Story
2027 YEAR
Interesting... How were they able to turn my memory into a picture?
The Third World War is in Full Swing
I am Haruto Saito.I’m 27 years old and a professional soldier of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. In recent years, I have gone through numerous battles that left an indelible mark not only on my body but also on my soul.
On the screen to the left, you can see one of the moments from my past—a combat mission that became a living nightmare for me. These scenes replay in my dreams, reminding me that war never leaves behind winners.
On the screen to the left, you can see one of the moments from my past—a combat mission that became a living nightmare for me. These scenes replay in my dreams, reminding me that war never leaves behind winners.
Unfortunately, my luck couldn’t last forever, and one day it finally turned away from me. Once again, I was close to death, but I survived. And, you won’t believe it, I didn’t even lose a single one of my five limbs, which, in such a seemingly dire situation, somehow smoothed things out a bit. I spent a long time recovering, and eventually, I was discharged, awarded a medal for my service, and sent back to civilian life. I wouldn’t say I was particularly happy about it (as I realized later), but maybe this is my fate? I wonder where it will lead me.
A terrible day...
I'm home... Is this my new home?
Take me back...
That jerk—my social worker.
Well, as you’ve probably already guessed, I didn’t really enjoy returning to the real world, where everything revolves around endless piles of documents. At first, they left me alone—gave me time to rest and recover. I went to a social center, where I had to check in, take tests, and assess my skills after a long absence... Basically, boring stuff.
Although, at first, it wasn’t so bad. The center was staffed with cute young employees who were polite and friendly. I even thought they were trying to make my stay there more pleasant. Though, they rotated far too often. Maybe they didn’t like the job?
And then... Then he came.
"Mr. Saito, find a job. Mr. Saito, take another test for the hundredth time. Mr. Saito, why were you fired?" — he was getting on my nerves.Of course, in many ways, he was right, but there was a lot he just didn’t understand. For example, finding a job wasn’t that hard; staying in one was the real challenge. It turned out that serious companies were reluctant to hire veterans because of some odd fears. And honestly, did they even need me? As for less "prestigious" jobs, I couldn’t stick with those for long either—too many problems because of... The employer, obviously! Although, to be fair, part of the blame was mine too.
Do I really look that unpresentable?
In short, after several months of unsuccessful attempts to complete "rehabilitation" through the government system—where I was required to meet a set of conditions that were simply impossible for me—I ended up failing completely. It seems my social worker finally lost it and decided to send me to a so-called military mental health facility. In reality, this place turned out to be nothing more than a madhouse where patients were pumped full of horse-sized doses of medication. After that, not only was it impossible to find a job, but even getting out of bed became nearly unthinkable.
A New Acquaintance
Mysterious man (Keiji Tanaka)
As I was leaving the social center, I came across a rather strange man who introduced himself as Keiji Tanaka. I might have heard something about him on TV, but I didn’t bring it up directly. He seemed to be some kind of prominent public figure.
It turned out he had overheard my conversation with the social worker about the mental health facility and suggested meeting him at his office to talk. Keiji assured me that he could help me avoid the military psychiatric facility and even offered me a job.
I know, you’re probably thinking that any sane person would normally refuse such a strange offer, but not in my situation. I really don’t want to end up in that place. And who knows? Maybe he’s a genuine philanthropist and altruist? I’ll give it a shot.
The next day, after certain circumstances I’d rather not talk about (you’ll see for yourself in the demo version of the game), I finally made it to the meeting spot. And discovered… oh, wonder… a school.Of course, you might say that, considering all the characters are drawn in anime style, this was predictable. But honestly, I was genuinely surprised. This is where I met Mr. Tanaka again. He led me to his office for a conversation.
I arrived while everyone was in class. Well, almost everyone.
It turned out that Mr. Tanaka is the head of the "Fate" foundation, which focuses on rehabilitating troubled teenagers from orphanages. His main program is called "Quiet Classroom," and the first four students are already prepared for re-education.But here’s the catch: he can’t find a teacher for them. You might ask, what does this have to do with me? Well, according to him, he was also in the military once and saw a kindred spirit in me.Tanaka shared a rather tragic story, which, of course, moved me. But what stuck with me the most was his promise to resolve my issues with the psychiatric facility because being their teacher is a matter of social significance. Without much thought, I decided to agree, though at the time, I didn’t realize what lay ahead.
My New Students
To say that the introduction didn’t go well would be an understatement. It ended in an argument, and half the students just ran away from me. And that short-haired one… Long story short, I gave up on this and decided it’s time to find a more decent psych ward for myself.
Me? A teacher? Tanaka tried to convince me it could work, but no. It didn’t. So I’m giving up. I’ll go back to him just to say I’m leaving—after all, it’s rude to leave without saying anything.
"Go to hell…" — I think that’s what he said, or something along those lines. Can you imagine? Kids these days.
Isn’t that the blonde one?
I told Mr. Tanaka what had happened and expressed my intention to leave. We talked, and then he went to the students to let them know it was time to go home. Before leaving, Tanaka asked me to wait and promised that upon his return, he would prepare some documents that could help me a bit in the rehabilitation center. It was his way of showing gratitude for my time. I agreed since I had caused him enough trouble myself. While waiting, something happened that you could call a "plot trigger"—otherwise, the game would’ve ended already. A file fell from the shelf, one of my new students' personal files. Of course, I couldn’t resist and read it… unpleasant things about his past. And it was the same for every one of them… Honestly, it’s hard to move me, but in these kids, I saw myself at their age. And suddenly, I realized how much I didn’t want them to live the kind of life I had. So, I decided not to abandon them and to try to help. I’ve had plenty of experience with tough circumstances myself. Whatever happens, happens!
After many apologies to the students, I realized that the principal hadn’t visited them at all.
Where could he have gone?! How embarrassing...
Anyway, it seems the kids have accepted me (well, maybe not all of them), and we have a challenging journey ahead to reform them (and myself). Whether I can manage it or not—I honestly have no idea, buddy. I’ve never dealt with teenagers, especially ones like these, and I have no clue where to start.
Maybe I should read more manga about schools and teenagers? What’s popular nowadays? Send me your favorite school-themed manga or anime by email, will you? Meanwhile, I’ll grab some sedatives and get to work!
We’ll meet in the game’s demo version, and later in the full one—I promise you, the game will be...
AWESOME
What are they grinning about??
